José received his BSc degree in Chemistry with honors at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2016. For his bachelor thesis, he investigated tetradentate Schiff bases for ion recognition while working as a Research Assistant at the Department of Analytical Chemistry. In 2019, José completed his master studies at UNAM. There, he worked on a supramolecular catalyst based on Cu(I)-calix[8]arenes for C—N coupling under the supervision of Dr. Ivan Castillo. After that, he worked as a Research Chemist in R&D of pharmaceutical products at GRISI, Mexico. In January 2021, he joined the Dumele Lab as a Ph.D. student at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. His research interests are chiral 2D covalent organic frameworks for photocatalytic processes.
