Joël started studying chemistry at the University of Freiburg/ Germany in 2017 and he relocated to Berlin one year later to continue his studies at Humboldt University. During his practical training, he developed a great interest in synthetical and analytic chemistry which led him to join the DumeleLab for his Bachelor thesis with focus on the synthesis of chiral chromophores for the preparation of 2D covalent organic frameworks. After his bachelor defense, Joël joined the lab of Tanja Junkers at Monash University Melbourne (Australia). In 2023, he returned to Berlin to work on his Master thesis in the Dumele group. After his graduation, Joel remains affiliated with the DumeleLab. In summer 2024, he will work as research intern at Okinawa University, Japan, with Prof. Akimitsu Narita.
